The Republican party has been hijacked by extremists. The party no longer has a platform. Instead, their leaders spread conspiracy theories and lies. From state legislatures to the halls of Congress, Republicans constantly claim Donald Trump won the 2020 election as they downplay the horrors of January 6 and of the pandemic. Candidates for state and federal office are racing to the bottom in their quest for Donald Trump’s endorsement. And even now, the assumption is that principled voters will be forced to vote for these candidates because of certain policy issues.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Now is the time to draw a line in the sand. Tell the GOP: enough is enough. They can no longer make excuses for the hucksters and conspiracy theorists in their ranks.
