Biography

Sen. Todd Young serves as the senior senator from the state of Indiana.

Sen. Young voted to certify the 2020 Electoral College votes from all states, and when confronted by Trump supporters urging him to overturn the results, he stated “I took oath under God… does that still matter in this country?” He further released a statement saying that “for Congress to supplant the will of a state’s certified electors for its own would be unconstitutional and set a dangerous precedent.”

Though he took a stand to certify the election results, Sen. Young voted to acquit Donald Trump for his role in inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. In a statement announcing his vote, Sen. Young called impeachment a “rigged process” and argued “the U.S. House of Representatives conducted a rushed and incomplete process for this snap impeachment.”
