Biography

Rep. Lauren Boebert represents Colorado’s 3rd district in the House, and is one of the more flagrant peddlers of the Big Lie that Biden’s victory was not legitimate.

Immediately after Biden declared victory, Boebert said, “There is no way that anyone can call the 2020 presidential election fair. We have to make this right.” She went on to echo many of Trump’s talking points on fraud, in one instance questioning the number of votes Biden received and referring to them as “Biden’s alleged 80 million votes.” In May, she said that she hopes QAnon “is real because it only means America is getting stronger and better and people are returning to conservative values.”

On the morning of the attack on the Capitol, she tweeted “Today is 1776,” which many of her followers interpreted as an endorsement of revolution. Even after the violence of that day, she joined many of her Republican colleagues in the House in objecting to the certification of Electoral College votes from Arizona and Pennsylvania, which would have disenfranchised millions of voters.

Rep. Boebert did not vote in support of the bipartisan commission proposal to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection.
