Biography

Rep. Kevin McCarthy represents California’s 23rd district in the House and currently serves as the House Minority Leader.

On Nov. 4, as votes were still being counted, he claimed, “I think at the end of the day the President will be elected for four more years.” A day later, when it was clear Trump was on his way to defeat, he appeared on Fox News and proclaimed, “President Trump won this election. Everyone who’s listening, do not be quiet, do not be silent about this. We cannot allow this to happen before our very eyes, we need to unite together.” This statement was a clear attempt to convince Trump’s base to take matters into their own hands.

Even after the attack on the Capitol, Rep. McCarthy continued his ploy by objecting to the counting of Electoral College votes from Arizona and Pennsylvania.

Rep. McCarthy did not vote in support of the bipartisan commission proposal to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection.
