Biography

Rep. Elise Stefanik represents New York’s 21st district in the House and was recently reelected to her fourth term. Stefanik sits on the Armed Services Committee, the Education and Labor Committee, and the Intelligence Committee. She justified her decision to object to the certification of Electoral College votes by stating, “my vote is about restoring the faith of the American people in our elections – that they are free, fair, secure, and according to the United States Constitution.” Rather than restore faith in our elections, she gave false hope to voters that a free and fair election could be reversed. There is no reason to think that the election was anything less than “secure,” and by implying that it wasn’t, Rep. Stefanik was sewing doubt about the election—doubt which ultimately led to the attack on the Capitol.
